This is the pilot website for The Poetry of Medicine project, one of the many Medical Humanities projects at the University of Oxford.
The project runs small group seminars, and hosts an accompanying website discussion. Both are aimed primarily at Hospital Doctors, Medical Students, and General Practitioners but we very much welcome conversations with any interested individuals within the health service, or more widely.
The project is led by Sophie Ratcliffe, who is an Oxford academic in the Faculty of English and Andrew Schuman, a General Practitioner and Undergraduate Medical Tutor at Oxford, and aims to discuss and illuminate the experience of medicine through literary texts. We are currently developing ways of gathering evidence about the uses of this kind of project but you can read some feedback from doctors who attended here. We hope you enjoy the pages that follow. Please note that the site itself, like the project, is still in development.
