Stop Press! Our new Oxford-based workshop, now open for booking
We’ve now designed an all new one-day workshop about literature and medicine, which, as always, is open to everyone who works in the NHS. We’ll be using literature, creative writing exercises, and the visual arts to think about a variety of themes. We’ll consider the ways in which those working in the health service deal with uncertainty, and we’ll explore the effects of gratitude and how we can find more of that in our daily working lives. Max Porter’s bestselling short novel, Grief is the Thing with Feathers, will provide a central text for our day, along with works by Ali Smith, Ted Hughes and Emily Dickinson.
As always, all books, lunch and supporting materials will be provided. There will also be talks from the acclaimed writers and biographers Jonathan Bate and Paula Byrne. The workshop will be held at Worcester College and participants will have the chance to explore the beautiful gardens.
The cost is £195, and to book your place please email: andrewschuman@doctors.org.uk (some student bursaries are available).
